About the event

2012 was a unique year for the United Kingdom with both the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the London Olympics.

It was also the year that the James Bond film SKYFALL was both filmed and released.

Due to a number of coincidences, Richard Folkes: a former Director of Army Aviation and at the time, an employee of Leonardo Helicopters, found himself behind the scenes of the production of both the final scenes in the final act of SKYFALL, when James Bond’s ancestral home is attacked by helicopter, and the unexpected arrival by parachute of “The Queen” at the London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony.

Hear the real story of what happened behind the scenes of 2012.
