Ready for the real rural experience? At Oaktrack Glamping, in the Hampshire countryside a couple of miles north of Andover, you’ll be settling down on a four-acre family-run smallholding where you’ll share the space with a bunch of characterful rare-breed animals including Belted Galloway cows, Oxford Sandy and Black pigs and a flock of Welsh and Shetland sheep.

They’re a very friendly bunch of animals here – and you can get to know them a bit better by joining in with farm activities including egg collecting and feeding. Such things are not compulsory, though, so it’s absolutely acceptable simply to relax back at your tent – a bistro set just outside pretty much invites some time spent sitting in the open air with a coffee/glass of wine.

The bell tents are designed to make relaxing as easy as possible, in fact – each one is fully furnished and provided with bed linen and towels, plus crockery, cutlery, board games and books. And as if that wasn’t enough, there’s also a lovely touch in the form of a welcome hamper of tasty treats.

For more substantial eats, pick up some of the smallholding’s own produce from the farm shop and head over to the communal kitchen, which has a small range of cooking equipment and a washing-up area. Toilets and showers are shared between the tents too.

Generally, this is a peaceful place to spend some time, but it’s worth noting that the tents are in the middle of the smallholding and you may hear a bit of noise from the animals when they get excited about feeding time…
