About the event
For the first time in decades, visitors have the opportunity to see the remarkable Test Valley Tapestries at Andover Museum. While the embroideries have been housed at Test Valley Borough Council offices for many years, this display marks a rare chance to view this important community artwork in a museum setting.
Created in 1990 as a major community project, the Test Valley Tapestry celebrates the people, places and heritage of the borough. Often compared to the famous Bayeux Tapestry, it is in fact a large-scale embroidery produced by around 1,500 local contributors of all ages. Across 19 beautifully stitched panels, it depicts 75 of Test Valley's towns, villages, hamlets and parishes, capturing the landscapes, landmarks and stories that make the area unique
